Why Sanitary Pads is Our Star Project
- It is shocking that out of a total of 40 crore menstruating women in India, less than 20% use sanitary pads. In urban areas, this number only goes up to 52%. The average is only 36%.
- Nearly 50% girls in India do not know about menstruation until the first time they get their period.
- Almost 23 million girls in India drop out of school annually, because of lack of menstrual hygiene facilities. These girls, who don’t drop out, usually miss up to 5 days of school every month.
- In 21st Century, with so much awareness and tremendous progress in every field, including Female empowerment, it is devastating that Menstruation is still considered Taboo. Leaving aside men, the women, too are hesitant to deliberate on this subject.
- Lack of water, basic sanitation and hygiene is responsible for the deaths of 800,000 women around the World, possibly by contracting Cervical cancer, Reproductive Tract Infections, Hepatitis B infection, various types of Yeast infections and Urinary Tract Infections, to name a few.
These horrific data and pathetic conditions of women and mensurating girls, brought our attention to Humanity Infinite, to take up this thrusting issue first. Now, this is a Star Project among, our other activities of looking after the lacking needs of School children and widows and the wellness of aged people.
Our aim is to locate such feminine strata of society, who are ashamed of discussing this issue in open, and do not have the finances to avail of Sanitary pads, needed regularly. We aim, to plan programs of awareness among them and to provide them the pads, every month.
We urge and look forward to getting your support of time and money. Please be a partner and join in the stream of doing good work for the under privileged Society and people, through Humanity Infinite.
Please donate generously. Please be with us.
